It is with deep regret and huge sadness that the Webster Team must announce that (for the third time since the competition began in 1932) the Webster Trophy Competition cannot be held this year — although we will be back again in 2021 when (hopefully) the current issues with COVID-19 will be a thing of the past.
Our decision is based on our concern for the health and safety of our staff, our applicants, and our partner school. We fully realize the severe financial situation faced by so many in Canada’s aviation community and understand how totally unreasonable it would be for us to ask for financial assistance from those already suffering so badly. Therefore, we have determined that foregoing the search for Canada’s Top Amateur Pilot this year would be in the best interest of all.
We look forward to the 2021 competition. We ask for your patience as we work through all of the details involved in closing down this year’s competition. We will soon be in the process of contacting those who have submitted an application for this year to provide further information. As well, we will be in contact with our valued supporters and sponsors to make sure they are all aware of our decision. When the time is right, we will again contact our supporters and sponsors about the 2021 event.
The Webster Team extends to all our sincere appreciation for your support so far and look forward to working with you again for next year’s competition. Between now and then, please keep safe and healthy, take the advice available from the many reliable sources and take care as we move toward a positive resolution of the current pandemic.
